Gidleigh Park is nothing short of magical. Tucked away in a remote, impossibly beautiful corner of Devon, it feels like stepping into a world where Downton Abbey charm meets Michelin‑starred perfection. The moment you arrive, the house and grounds wrap around you with a sense of calm, heritage, and understated luxury. The team deliver service that is warm, intuitive, and genuinely world‑class, striking that rare balance between professionalism and heartfelt hospitality. The restaurant is a revelation. Every dish is crafted with precision and imagination, showcasing the best of local produce with the finesse you’d expect from a top Michelin kitchen. The wine pairings elevate the experience even further, and the dining room itself feels like a celebration of English elegance. Rooms are beautifully appointed, blending classic character with modern comfort. Waking up to views of the gardens and woodland is a privilege in itself. Whether you’re strolling along the river, relaxing by the fire, or indulging in dinner, every moment feels curated and special. Gidleigh Park isn’t just a hotel and restaurant. It’s an experience, a retreat, and a reminder of how extraordinary hospitality can be. A flawless stay from start to finish.

This is one of those places that does require a 6th star. This is by far the best hotel that I have stayed in. This is nestled in a beautiful and isolated location. Before you even get to reception, the River Teign and grounds are spectacular. Then you forget you need to actually check in and when we did, we were welcomed by the staff. This is a fond memory of Gidleigh Park, the staff; Nicola, Charlie, Sam and the manager (sorry I didn’t catch your name sir) going beyond. The room was cosy, large and spectacular views of the valley and garden. The bath was massive and the bed was extremely comfortable. The food in the evening was fantastic and the chef and his team made a modification for a custom request due to dietary requirements. Breakfast was extremely tasty. I truly cannot wait to come back. A lovely retreat and treat on Dartmoor. A magical gem of a place. *on a side note, I also recommend the Falconry experience which we booked in conjunction with our stay. David of Westcountry Falconry made our experience even more memorable. Recommended!

Completely in awe of this wonderful place and truly excellent staff. Delicious food cooked beautifully and served with tact, expertise and discretion. That it was Valentines Day, with the most gorgeous partner, was a marvellous aspect and the team appeared to respond to this. Eggs Benedict the following morning was the best ever. Loved the whole thing from start to finish. Whatever the leadership is doing here, it is a fabulous success. Thank you to everyone at Gidleigh Park

Completely faultless from start to finish beautiful hotel. Amazing food. But what really sets it apart from other hotels (and we have stayed in many) were the incredible staff. From the minute we arrived we were so welcome and the balance of professional and friendliness was perfect. Thank you for a perfect stay

Everything about Gidleigh Park is exceptional. The room was beautiful and had everything I could need. The staff were welcoming, friendly, and super efficient. The food was out of this world and our respective allergies and preferences noted and catered for. The gardens were beautiful and the hotel is perfectly located for a marvellous walk over Dartmoor. I can’t praise Gidleigh Park too highly.

My wife and I had a wonderful overnight stay at Gidleigh Park. Our welcome by staff was exceptional, and nothing was too much trouble throughout our stay. Luckily the weather improved sufficiently for us to enjoy a lovely walk around the park, which exceeded everything we had been led to expect. Our room had a beautiful view over the park, but sadly, due to the rain we weren't able to take advantage of the balcony. The lounge was provided welcome relaxation in the comfy sofas after our walk as well as the ideal place for an aperitif before the highlight of our visit, which was undoubtedly the dining experience. The food was delicious, beautifully presented and full of unusual flavours.

We stayed overnight and had a 5 course meal here for our 1st Wedding Anniversary. It was absolutely wonderful. The team were so friendly and couldn't do enough for us. We had an anniversary card and some sweets and sweet wine/fruit in our room. The building itself has that old world charm, real fires lit everywhere and the Christmas decor was cosy and inviting. The grounds are beautiful and we had a lovely walk around before our evening meal. The food was excellent, including breakfast. The hotel is in a very remote location and the drive is not one for a driver inexperienced with the South West one track roads so just be aware and ready! Thank you Gidleigh Park for a wonderful stay!
